Frequently Asked Questions

Business Hours: The Wandering Paw operates on a "By Appointment Only" basis.

Why are nail trims important?

Nail trims are crucial for the health, comfort, and safety of our pets.

  • For Dogs: Overgrown nails can cause significant discomfort and health issues. Long nails can cause injury. They can easily get caught on objects, leading to painful tears or fractures. Excessive nail length can force dogs to walk unnaturally, putting strain on their joints and potentially contributing to arthritis.

  • For Cats: While preventing damage to your belongings is a bonus, nail trims are essential for cats' well-being to prevent painful ingrown nails. As cats age, their nails can grow into their paw pads, causing severe pain and discomfort.

  • For Small Animals: Regular nail trims are vital for many small pets. Long nails can curl into their paw pads, making walking difficult and painful. Overgrown nails can easily get caught, potentially causing painful rips. Sharp, long claws make handling difficult and increase the risk of injury to both the pet and the handler.

Do I need to be home?

We require a pet parent to be home for the initial appointment, after it’s a case by case basis.

How long will my appointment last?

Every pet is an individual, on average The Wandering Paw is in & out within 15 minutes.

What do I need to provide for my appointment?

Please keep doors closed &  eliminate routes of escape, this makes things go much smoother!

Dogs: Please have your pup on their collar or harness and leash on when we arrive!

Cats: Please have a bath towel ready and when possible secure them in a small room without furniture to get under. The key is closed doors!

Small Animals: Please have their environment easily accessible for your Pawdicurist.

I think my pet needs a muzzle?

The Wandering Paw's goal is to acclimate every pet to the Pawdicure process. If you have concerns about your pet biting you are welcome to pre-muzzle them prior to your Pawdicurist's arrival.

What if my pet is scared?

General nervousness or  scared behavior is not out of the ordinary for most pets. The Wandering Paw will continually work towards a stress-less experience for your pet.

Do I need to provide Vaccination Records?

The Wandering Paw recommends pet parents follow their veterinarian's recommendations & local ordinances regarding vaccinations but we do not set vaccine schedule policies for our clients.
